The Q&A

Hello there, dear readers, today is our national holiday, so drink a Belgian beer or eat some french fries to celebrate that Belgium exists, okay? There is nothing special today, shops are closed etc, and I must admit there was more of a Belgian spirit when we were in Brazil.

But okay. The real subject of this post will be the questions Zaychishka gave me. She nominated me for the Liebster Award. If I remember it right, I got one (or a few) already, and sometimes I forget or ignore them, but her questions were interesting. I’m not giving any  more random facts, because there are barely random facts left about me, and I’m not nominating anyone because most of you know each other very well. It’s purely the questions that I’ll answer.

Zaychishka is a blog on Russian and Ukrainian fashion. (Since I’m mentioning Ukraine now, I want to take a second of virtual silence for the victims of the plane that has crashed there. A very, very tragic situation. I’m incredibly sorry for what happened there and wish there was a way to console all the people who have lost someone.) Her blog is very inspirational, interesting, and of course very relevant for me!

Now, she’s given me some nice things to think about. Here we go:

1. What subject did you least like the most in school? (it could be from elementary, high school, college/university etc)

Hmmm, probably our religion class in high school, that wasn’t much about religion at all, or the philosophy class at university. Philosophy can be very interesting, but the way the professor approached it seemed to utterly bullshitty to me. I skipped at least half of the classes. No regrets.

2. If you could be any animal what would you be?

A cat, clearly. A cat that gets spoiled, like ours.

3,Which ancient culture fascinates you the most?

Hard one! Ancient culture are always nice to read more about. I’ve been studying Latin in high school, so I know quite some things about their culture. I would love to know more about the ancient Egyptian culture. And the Celtic mythology is something I never fail to like as well!

4. If you could talk to anyone in the world, who would be the person you would want to have a sit down conversation with? (dead or alive)

This question is too hard. Though there is this dancer in the Mariinsky theatre who has such a strong and almost royal attitude. I’d love to find out where she got it from.

5. Have you ever been mistaken for a celebrity?

6.  How did you build up the courage to put your words out their- with your blog, for all to see? (or did you even need any courage at all?)

I need less courage to blog than to talk about certain things, just because I don’t have to face you every day. Though I mind my words sometimes, since this is still the Internet. I’ve never got a bad remark or insults, so I feel like I can say about everything here. And that’s a very good feeling!

7.Where are you from? Which country?

Well, unless you skipped the first part, I think that’s pretty clear!

Not the classiest thing to eat... But still very good and very Belgian. Source

Not the classiest thing to eat… But still very good and very Belgian.

8. What is a funny misconception about the country you are from? (Or stereotype).

That we all speak French. In fact there are three official languages here: French, Dutch and German. The German part is very small, but the other two are almost equally as big. I live in the Dutch speaking part.

9. What is something that you do that you consider relaxing?

Reading, and dancing in a way too. Especially when you’ve finished a class or something, and you’re tired in a good way, and you can sit down then…

10. What inspires you to blog? (this is a very good & timeless question)

The overload of things I want to share. I need to get it out, or it gets stuck in my head. I need space there, so I need to get the words and movies and songs out every now and then.

11. What would be an ideal dinner & dessert? Any scenario would work, let your thoughts run wild.

I would like a walking dinner, so I can try everything. And some vegetarian lasagna with olives and a glass of wine… And of course I never say no to french fries with beer. Maybe not very lady-like, but too good to refuse. Seriously. And afterwards, some sweet melon, or tiramisu, or how is it called… You know, it’s a chocolate dessert, hard on the outside, but still fluid on the inside. That is good. That is very good.

That was that for now! Feel free to be inspired by this and answer the questions as well, and go say hello to Zaychishka 🙂

Tag Line 2

Part 2 of Mission Tag. This time, I thank Addie (thanks, Addie) for these easy, quickly answered questions.

1. Die a bit younger with all your facilities or, die at a ripe old age, having no idea what is going on.

Die a bit younger, I guess. Having all your facilities is a nice thing.

2. Have you ever eaten gefilte fish?

*lets Google translate do his job* I think not. I’m not very fond of eating dead animals, you know… So I wouldn’t choose it myself, I guess.

3. Your perfect companion. (Yes, LiC and Guap, you may just post photos of your beloved).

Oh dear, I feel so single… Anyone who worships me, or anyone who is interesting. I mean, interesting to me, forever. And a nice body would be pleasant too. Intelligence is needed. Otherwise you really cannot understand my spontaneous remarks and jokes. Further on some stuff no one wants, like humour and kindness.

4. Do you still write real letters?

No, and I find that quite a pity! I do have a diary though, but I don’t write in letter form. Writing by hand is still more fun than typing. But also slower.

5. Movie or play or book?

Book. There aren’t much movies or plays that really impressed me so far. (I’m saying this so many times that I’m afraid I seem to be whining…)

6. What have you done you’d prefer your parents not discover?

After 17 years there aren’t too many things I should hide for my parents. In fact I’m a really nice girl. Never been drunk. Never smoken a cigarette. Never taken drugs.

7. Do you/Did you like your inlaws? (me Nope.)

I hate them because I don’t have them… 😉

8. Regular coffee or the fancy schmancy stuff?

Cappuccino. With whipped cream. I drink no other coffee than that.

9. One thing on your bucket list.

(Is this about things to do before you die…?) There are many things to do before I die. But somehow, I cannot think of something right now…

10. Biggest surprise you’ve had.

Unfortunately not a surprise party! Why does my memory let me down? Oh wait, when I discovered that the Belgian version of Santa Claus didn’t exist, there was disbelief. I still find a bit cruel of the friend who told me that. I was too young. I couldn’t deal with it.

11. Pick an ethnicity other than you own. Why?

Russian. Does that count as an ethnicity? Because I like the Russian language and I’ll probably do it at university.

Now I have to pick other bloggers to answer to my questions….
Which is hard…
Let’s say I’ll do that another time!

Tag Line

(Tag, because I’m tagged, and Line because it’s a sort of line, you know, you have to pass tags on and well, it resembles a line, slightly. Right?)

The pressure of being tagged twice… Thanks to Lisa and Addie anyway!

But the questions are far to interesting to ignore! First the rules though…
1. You must post the rules.
2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you’ve tagged.
3. Tag eleven people and link to them on your post.
4. Let them know you’ve tagged them!

(Of course you don’t have to obey)

Small problem… How am I supposed to tag eleven other people when they’re already tagged twice? The best way of dealing with this kind of things though, is just postponing until you really have to do it.

So that’s exactly what I’ll do.

Now, the questions.

1. If deserted on an island what is the one book, one film, and one album/CD you would request.
The book would be Lolita. I even bought it today. Just because… The film is harder, there aren’t too many films that really satisfy me. If I could take the Royal Ballet 1991 version of La Bayadere though, I’d be rather contented. I cannot choose between all those great Cd’s. I really cannot!
2. In Heaven, I hope there’s an unlimited supply of sleep? love? fake fur?.

3. If I could change one body part it would be my  *looks at body* it would be the form of my head seen from the side.

4. My favorite day of the week is – they all seem to suck. But okay, Friday is quite good. And Saturday mostly. And Sunday because it’s the only day I can sleep as long as I want. Because damn, I just told you that for Sunday. Friday is quite okay because we have rather nice subjects then. Saturday because it’s such a long day. I start with a 2 hour lasting dance class and sometimes it ends in a cafe. Which is rather okay too.

5. The person who makes me laugh the most is that one good friend of mine. (They all think it’s them now 🙂 )

6. My dream occupation would be dancing. Not really unexpected, right?

7. My favorite dream car is a bike. Seriously, I do not know anything about cars…

8. My most hated Teacher was that one asshole (I cannot say more- I might still have him/her). Worst class plenty. No, not plenty. We used to have a sort of art class, but the teacher was really expecting too much, and you had to spent so much time on it… I didn’t agree on his way of teaching. (And he just didn’t understand my art… Far too avant-garde for him) But eerm, I still disagree on plenty of teachers now. I guess I’m too critical.

9. Would you rather be eaten by sharks or eaten by lions? Or, live in a world of mud? (This last option is a family joke, by the way.)
Lions. You know, when my cat attacks my arm, his teeth and nails hurt me, but his fur is very soft. Imagine you have a whole lion attacking you. Must be even more softness!
(LiC, if you want to hug a cat, then I really do not understand that you choose the mud!)

10. My favorite smell is my unfindable (okay, I just made up that word) perfume.

11. If I had to change my first name it would be (how do you know I don’t say my real first name now?) Ailyn, perhaps.

That was only part 1… To be continued.
